Video games with a wide selection of demographics come with a variety of difficulties. Some games are simple enough for young children, while others are so ruthless that they are rarely beaten. In this list, we’re taking a closer look at what is arguably the hardest video game ever made. The article reflects our views.

Mega Man 9 is arguably the toughest game in the Mega Man franchise. It was released in 2008 and features some of the most well-designed yet gruesome levels in all of Mega Man. The game alternates between an overhead and side-scroller type of gameplay. For each stage, a mini-boss appears, leading up to the final confrontation with an unnamed purple villain with a gun. The game, while recognized for its exceptional difficulty, is often praised for its quality soundtrack.

Mega Man 3 for the NES is a seriously difficult game to beat and is also a particularly coveted title in the Mega Man franchise. It is the first game to use the slide manoeuvre and also features the character, Proto Man.Â

Flappy Bird
If you had a mobile phone in 2013, you probably had Flappy Bird or at least knew someone tapping on a side-scrolling hairpuller. Players must guide Flappy Bird through the green pipe without touching it. Each tap will flutter the bird slightly raising it. Not using the tap will cause it to fall down. Hitting the pipe will lose the game. The game seems simple enough but it requires serious skill to get high scores.
Ghost ‘n Goblins’
Ghosts N Goblins is one of the toughest NES titles ever. The main character is Arthur who can find useful armour power-ups to wear but takes only one hit to lose the armour, leaving Arthur only a pair of boxers. Once the game is defeated, players must play through each level again on a harder difficulty in order to reach the actual end.
